How to Scan with NFC
NFC (Near Field Communication) scanning verifies pickups and deliveries during transfers, creating an unbreakable audit trail. Locations with NFC tags assigned can use tap-to-scan for fast, accurate inventory updates.
How NFC scanning works
NFC tags are small chips mounted at specific locations (for example, a Storage Room door frame or a bar counter). When you tap your phone against a tag, the ReRoute AI mobile app identifies the location and lets you update inventory or confirm a transfer step.
Confirming a transfer with NFC
-
At the source location (pickup): Open the ReRoute AI mobile app and tap your phone against the NFC tag at the source location. The app shows the pending transfer and asks you to confirm the pickup. Tap Confirm Pickup -- the transfer status changes to In Transit.
-
At the destination location (delivery): Carry the products to the destination. Tap your phone against the NFC tag at that location. The app shows the in-transit items and asks you to confirm receipt. Tap Confirm Delivery -- the transfer moves to Received, then the system automatically marks it Completed and updates quantities at both locations.
Scanning products for inventory counts
- Open the ReRoute AI mobile app.
- Tap your phone against the NFC tag at the location you want to count.
- The app identifies the location and shows its current inventory.
- Scan product barcodes to update quantities.
- Changes sync to the platform in real time.
Not all locations have NFC tags. Only locations with an assigned NFC tag ID (visible on the Locations page) support NFC scanning. Locations without NFC tags can still be managed through the web interface.
Use NFC scanning at the start or end of a shift for quick inventory spot-checks at high-volume locations like bars and service areas.
